A man who spiked sweets with tranquilliser and gave them to children at a youth camp in Leicestershire has confessed to sexual offenses against two boys who were nine and 10.
Jon Ruben was arrested after eight children and an older person fell ill at Stathern Lodge in July.
The 76-year-old, from the Nottinghamshire area, confessed to a total of 17 charges when he stood at Leicester Crown Court on the end of the week.
Nevertheless, he refused to admit one of the sexual offences he was accused of, which was against a young boy.
The defendant was kept in jail prior to a additional proceeding on November 28th.
'Sweet game'
Mary Prior KC, presenting evidence, described Ruben's offending to the judicial body.
She said his victims were children from difficult backgrounds who were staying at a summer camp which he ran.
The defendant played a "candy game" with the minors, the prosecutor said, in which he would enter the children's bedrooms when they were preparing to sleep and tell them to consume candy "as fast as possible".
She told the court the man had engaged in this activity with the young males "over an extended period", and children had previously fallen ill the subsequent day.
She explained Ruben had been able to explain this repeatedly as the minors being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his family member had worries in recently.
The legal representative continued: "Recently" his stepchild had suspicions about what was going on, for good reason.
"They chose" to have a look in the individual's items."
The legal counsel stated items including lubricant, Vaseline and injection devices were found, and his stepson alerted the law enforcement about his suspicions.
She stated the man continued to engage in the "candy game" with six children that time - July 26th - and they were all ill the subsequent day.
"Law enforcement" had not gone out by that point," she added.
The police watchdog, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, previously told that it was examining Leicestershire Police's handling of the incident.
Mrs Prior said the children were unable to walk properly due to being ill, so Ruben's stepson notified the law enforcement a second time.
She said the defendant then played the "sweet game" in a room of five youngsters.
